Orca3D Software
Orca3D is a marine design and naval architecture software package developed as a plug-in for Rhinoceros (Rhino), bringing a range of marine-specific design, engineering and analysis tools into the Rhino environment. Orca3D Version 3 is compatible with Rhino 7 and Rhino 8 and is available through three principal modules: Design, Analysis and Advanced Stability, which can be purchased in different combinations to suit the user’s requirements.
The Design Module provides tools for hull design and fairing, together with basic hydrostatics and stability calculations. It provides the foundation for developing and evaluating marine hull forms within Rhino.
The Analysis Module extends Orca3D’s capabilities with speed and power prediction, a CFD interface, and weight and cost tracking. These tools support the assessment of vessel performance and the management of weights, centres of gravity and associated costs within the Rhino model.
The Advanced Stability Module provides more comprehensive stability analysis, including compartment and tank modelling, fluid and solid loads, multiple load cases, free-surface effects, intact and damaged stability, stability criteria evaluation and tank tables. It also includes reporting capabilities for compartment and tank areas and volumes.
Orca3D also offers Orca3D Marine CFD, a specialist product based on SimericsMP. Due to its specialised nature and the level of technical support required, Marine CFD is purchased directly through Orca3D, LLC, rather than through the standard reseller channel. 3D ANZ can assist customers with quotations and the purchasing process for Marine CFD, while the specialist technical relationship and support remain directly with Orca3D. This is distinct from the Design, Analysis and Advanced Stability modules, for which 3D ANZ is an Orca3D reseller and can provide sales and support assistance.
