LandsDesign for Rhino or AutoCAD

Professional landscape design tools within the CAD environment you already use

LandsDesign is professional landscape design software that integrates directly with Rhinoceros (Rhino) and AutoCAD, providing dedicated tools for landscape architecture, garden design and green-space planning.

Develop detailed 2D plans and 3D models, create terrain and planting schemes, add hardscape elements, and generate project documentation — all within your existing Rhino or AutoCAD workflow.

LandsDesign for Rhino

Runs as a plug-in within Rhinoceros, adding specialist landscape design tools while retaining the flexibility of the Rhino modelling environment.

Compatible with: Rhino 7 and Rhino 8

LandsDesign for AutoCAD

Runs directly within AutoCAD, providing dedicated landscape design tools for creating, documenting and presenting landscape projects.

Compatible with: AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2021–2026

From 2D design to 3D landscape model

LandsDesign connects the 2D and 3D aspects of landscape design. Plants, paths, walls, terrain and other landscape elements can be developed within the same project, with the corresponding 3D representation generated as part of the design workflow.

This provides a practical way to move between technical drawings and 3D visualisation without maintaining separate models.

Vegetation and planting design

LandsDesign includes a filterable plant database containing more than 8,000 species, with botanical information and multiple 2D and 3D representations.

Plants can be inserted individually, in rows or as mass groups, with options for species selection, density and distribution. The software also includes tools for topiary and vertical gardens, allowing vegetation to be incorporated directly into the landscape model.

Plant representations range from simple 2D symbols through conceptual and detailed 3D models to realistic representations for presentation and rendering.

Terrain modelling and grading

Create and edit terrain models from contours, points, meshes and point clouds, or import elevation information from sources including DEM and GIS files.

LandsDesign provides grading-path tools with control over slope, height and rise/run, together with cut-and-fill operations and automatic earthwork volume calculations. Terrain operations remain editable within the project.

Hardscape and landscape elements

LandsDesign provides parametric tools for creating walls, fences, ramps, stairs and other landscape elements directly within the design.

Urban furniture can be selected from a library and distributed within the project, while walls, ramps and stairs generate corresponding 3D representations from the 2D design.

Project documentation

LandsDesign connects the design model with project documentation. Lists can be generated for plants, furniture, terrain, walls, paths, fences, irrigation and zoning, with information updating as the project changes.

Drafting and annotation tools provide dimensions, slopes, elevations and plant labels, while lists can be exported to Excel for further use.

Visualisation and presentation

LandsDesign provides multiple plant representations for different stages of a project, including realistic 3D vegetation. Plant appearance can also be displayed for different seasons, helping communicate how a landscape design develops throughout the year.

For Rhino users, LandsDesign objects and their materials integrate with Rhino rendering workflows.

Grasshopper integration

For Rhino users, LandsDesign integrates with Grasshopper, allowing LandsDesign elements to be incorporated into parametric and automated modelling workflows.
