Summary
Rhino 6 fully embraces Grasshopper - the widely adopted and trusted visual programming language – by wholly incorporating Grasshopper within Rhino itself.
Rhino 6 also takes a fresh approach to many features, and benefits from fundamental overhaul of key workflows from a design productivity perspective.
Grasshopper
If “necessity is the mother of invention”, then Grasshopper is a key enabler of design innovation.
Now an integral / key component of Rhino, Grasshopper has been widely acclaimed for its role in some of the most innovative modern-day design projects – projects whose path to success may have proven much longer or less likely without it. Its success is not limited to one area, but spans all design disciplines.
In common with Rhino, Grasshopper has all the hall-marks of the proven and trusted / robust development platform that you’d expect from software solutions of the McNeel pedigree. Grasshopper underpins many versatile third-party innovations ranging from environmental analysis to robotic control.
Presentation is everything:
The language of design is visual communication. Successful design is about achieving a vision match between client requirements and design deliverables. We employ artistry to show customers that we are understanding of, and adept at interpreting their vision; And we use it to share our vision as a creative response to a client’s brief. To illustrate our own versatility, we need to rely on a visual communication toolset that is equally versatile. Rhino 6 offers a breadth of easy to use productivity tools to meet and exceed expectations.
The process is necessarily iterative, and the pressures upon us to communicate visually vary at every step, both in style and response criteria. At the outset we may need something as simple as sketch. Toward the end we need polished presentations. At other times we just need to quickly capture the viewport to facilitate timely discussion about resolving a problematic detail.
Rhino 6 has been optimised for simplicity with major improvements in productivity to help you present your work quicker, and at every stage of a design’s evolution. Rhino 6 enables you to present, discuss, make decisions, accommodate changes and iterate designs with confidence - easier and faster than ever before – and to a higher quality.
DIsplay
Rhino 6’s display takes full advantage of popular features found on modern graphics hardware, like GPU sensitive shaders and memory optimization. The result is stunning graphics performance with no loss of stability or consistency - even with sizeable models! In certain conditions, display speed can be up to 300% faster.
Design & Construction Documentation
In the early days of Rhino, customers purchased it because it was the best value - yet arguably one of the most capable and easy to use – 3D surface modelling solutions on the market at any price. In times gone by, that was all the justification more than a million Rhino users needed to adopt the system. Early adopters of Rhino were quite content to use other software for design or construction documentation. Over the years, as each version of Rhino has improved its design documentation tools, the need to go outside the system to document the design has diminished. With Rhino 6, we are not only confident that you no longer need to go outside to do this, you just won’t want to!
The software authors at McNeel have refined many aspects of the Rhino documentation workflow, with a completely reworked annotation-style interface and RichText throughout. It's now easier to convey accurately and clearly the detail of your design with beautiful drawings. And for those whose old habits die hard – preferring the comfort and familiarity of the 2D devil they know - then rest assured, McNeel provides improved DWG support in Rhino 6.
